He born in 1951 in Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang province.
In 1984, he graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Hanoi
Currently a member of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
Artist Van Chien started his artistic career in 1975 with familiar genres of paintings such as oil painting, lacquer…, besides a portrait paper painting.
